Our Story

About Us

Originally formed in 1998, the Grand Old Dulcimer Club (GODC) is a group of mostly amateur musicians that gathers monthly to share the love of music centered around the mountain dulcimer. The majority of our members play the dulcimer but we also have other instruments that add to the richness and complexity of our music, including:

·         Hammered dulcimer

·         Mandolin

·         Marimbula

·         Irish drum (Bodhran)

·         Penny whistle

·         Low Irish whistle

·         Guitar

·         Dulcijo (a combination of banjo and dulcimer)

·         Ukelele

·         Upright bass

·         Cello

We have a set list that we play from each month and always allow time toward the end of each session for players’ personal favorites or just jam and enjoy.

Our music consists mainly of hymns and old-time folk tunes but we occasionally incorporate other genres and also seasonal music related to a particular month.

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind and flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
